Well.. I definitely never want to go to job corps.
- their computer systems are lacking, and from the perspectives of the people there its really hard. - Theres a lot of drama - theres Very little free time, cleaning in mandatory, and when one person is miss-behaving everyone is punished.
- Apparently there are a lot of fights between students and the particular student I spoke with feels like there opinions and points of view are worthless. This student doesn't feel they can engage in discussion.  When asked if the student was happy they were there it seemed like it was difficult to say Semi- happy. Apparently sleep for this student is hard to come buy as roommates are loud and intrusive at night. Sleeping 5 to a room it definitely sounds unpleasant.
my observations are that - the counselor/ instructor seems to be very condescending and it does show. The student definitely looks angry, frustrated, tired and unhappy.
The student also mentioned that they feel there is a lot of favoritism, and has been held back due to changes in curriculum.
- the student compares it with high school - but MUCH worse.

From Dee Dees perspective-

Peoples lives are fragile- and in the world she deals with theres destruction at ever turn – dug abuse, phisical abuse, poverty

And Shes trying to see the potential in it all. When she comunicates its with simple words – strong eye contact- and a sweet sing – song tone of voice. Very much like one would take to a child. Does she do this because shes afraid of giving more challenges?

-      Maybe what an out side on looker sees as condecending and cruel –

-      Is in her world.. safety – a net of love and kind words.

Tho.. I see from these words- a result of anger resilliance- an understanding that an adult whos beein through such tragedy – and in the adults mind is a functional audult-  is being spoken to as a child.

True- the adult can’t see that they really aren’t functioning- they are drowning and need help- yet like a teenager- they are stubborn – when adressed by the.. parental figure Dee Dee seems to take the role of.

DeeDee seeks to guide- an unwilling traveler- and in her view- perhaps the best way to do so is with a kind yet firm word. Like a guide who understands the true pit falls of the dangerouse terrain- Dee Dee understands the difficulties that Job corps Shelters its wards from-

And perhaps it is too much to ask to keep the – I know you think you know- but you really don’t know at all – from her voice.

Yet- this tone- presents more problems than it solves- I believe a stronger form of communication would aid.

It is difficult to try and think of ways to communicate with an adult who in many ways is an adult – having gone through such trauma- but in many ways is still a child.

How can we bridge theese two mind sets with communication?
